In the last 17 years of their marriage, they've lived in 3 different countries, 8 different cities including, Seoul, Los Angeles, and Qingdao. As exhilarating as it was, the two were ready to slow down. When searching for their final destination, in addition to considering the fact that this would be a bit more long term than their usual stay, they were searching for somewhere they could create dishes for both their neighbors and customers. Upon seeing the cobblestone streets of Philadelphia's Old City, they knew that the search was over.
The husband and wife duo have spent several years collecting recipes from diverse countries and cultures and they are excited to pour the experience accumulated from years of traveling and working in the food industry into their final project
Within the bustling metropolis of Seoul, the capital of South Korea, is Buk Chon. It is Korea's oldest town and therefore considered the heart of Korea's rich history. In every corner of this little neighborhood you can find traces of tradition, especially in its restaurants. Dishes made from scratch with ingredients brought directly from family-owned farms just hours away in the rolling hills of the Korean countryside. Alicia and Chris felt it would be appropriate to name their restaurant after Buk Chon because they wanted to bring these classic Korean philosophies regarding food to Philadelphia's own Old City, another location that encapsulates the a nation's historical roots
